New Beds for the Centre!!!
Greetings friends! We just wanted to give you all an update on some things that are happening here at Ponnagam. In the fall of 2009 there were 2 fundraisers that took place in North America. Through the help of generous donors we were able to raise the funds required for some much needed additional cots and an internet connection in the village. Now we are able to house 12 more people in the new room that was recently constructed. Once again a special thanks to Chet Ingram, John Parry, Ashley Pfifer and all those who volunteered their time in putting these events together. We are especially thankful to Patrick and Andrea Whelan who have touched us with a very special gift. We would also like to thank Ken Cenaiko from Canada who recently gave a donation towards the work that is going on here. Thankyou Ken!

Sick room under construction
We are so thankful that we have been given the funds needed to start building an additional room for the destitute center. In the month of August of 2008 we received generously from friends in Canada to start working on this project and we are now in need of $10,000 to finish the project. A special thank you to Fairmont Saskatoon, Dr Geoff Marshall, Norm Doerkson in Banff and all our friends for their support.
Welcome to Ponnagam Destitute, Tamil Nadu, South India

Greetings dear friends
Welcome to our new website on the internet. The Ponnagam Destitute Center in the Virudhunagar district, South India is a charity that was started in 2006 under the umbrella of Global Outreach (based in St Catherines, Ontario, Canada and Buffalo, New York, U.S.A) . We take in seniors and people that have have been left on the street to die.
We are a registered charity under the Tamil Nadu act of Societies.
Asilapuram is located near the town of Rajapalayam in Tamil Nadu, South India. The destitute centre currently houses 30 people and has a staff of 6 staff members. It is our vision and goal to provide food and shelter with ample amounts of loving care. We run a small medical clinic as well that provides free medical care for the surrounding villages.
Enjoy learning about our small centre and please do drop us a line anytime.
With Much Love and Thanks
The Ponnagam Center
